Database Engineer Experience: 3–8 Years Location: Mumbai / Navi Mumbai Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are looking for a skilled Database Engineer with 3–8 years of experience in designing, managing, optimizing, and supporting production-grade database systems. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, security, and database automation. The role requires close collaboration with application development, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, manage, and maintain relational and/or NoSQL database systems. Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database platforms. Monitor database performance, health, availability, and capacity. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using query analysis and tuning techniques. Optimize SQL queries, indexes, schemas, and database configurations. Design and maintain database backup, recovery, replication, and disaster-recovery processes. Ensure database availability, reliability, scalability, and data integrity. Implement appropriate database security, access control, authentication, and auditing mechanisms. Support application teams with database design, query optimization, and troubleshooting. Manage database migrations, schema changes, and release deployments. Develop scripts and automation for routine database administration and operational tasks. Monitor storage utilization and perform database capacity planning. Troubleshoot database incidents and perform root cause analysis. Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and database standards. Participate in architecture discussions and recommend suitable database technologies for different workloads.

Requirements

Required Skills

Strong experience with one or more relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or similar

Strong knowledge of SQL and database query optimization

Good understanding of database architecture, indexing, normalization, transactions, and concurrency

Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning

Experience with backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery

Knowledge of database high-availability concepts and clustering

Experience with database security, user management, roles, and permissions

Good understanding of Linux and/or Windows server environments

Experience with database migration and schema management

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with scripting using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar

Understanding of version control and deployment processes

Good to Have

Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB, or similar

Experience managing cloud databases on AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform

Familiarity with managed database services such as Amazon RDS, Aurora, Azure SQL, or Cloud SQL

Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with database monitoring tools and observability platforms

Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, or Infrastructure as Code

Knowledge of data warehousing and analytical databases

Experience with database automation and CI/CD integration

Understanding of encryption, compliance, audit logging, and data governance

Exposure to distributed databases and large-scale database environments

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

3–8 years of relevant experience in database engineering, database administration, or database operations.
